For those unaware, a Soundclouder by the name of Ben Caldwell recently uploaded two excellent ‘Roots Of…’ mixes, the subjects being dubstep pioneers Skream and Loefah.
Slickly mixed, they’re worth checking out whether your familiar with the content or not. You can download the mixes in WAV format from the page itself, or save yourself some disk space and grab a 320 offering here.

Here’s a new track from Text signee Juk Juk. Some absolutely lovely vocal manipulation on show, rising to an emotive, nostalgic crescendo before settling back into a quietly energetic groove, dusty percussion leading the way.

Pinch got me onto these guys in his Crate Digging feature he did for us. Here’s what he said about Closer: “One of my all time favourite tracks ever! Soulful electronic dub music at it’s finest.. Simple as that. Smith & Mighty were responsible for so many good things musically that set a strong foundation upon which the likes of Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead, Full Cycle were able to launch from and – ironically – leave Smith & Mighty behind. The very definition of Bristol Legends in my opinion.”
